Title:                Traffic Signal Design Engineer (full time)

Duties:             Design traffic control system plans including signal layout, interconnect system, signal timing, and signal phasing plans. Specific duties include:  (1) prepare traffic signal plans for new and existing intersections to minimize intersection delay and improve traffic flow based on analysis of traffic data and location specific conditions; (2) identify suitable type of mast arms, signal heads, pull boxes and controllers for a signal installation project; (3) calculate and determine the type and quantity of cable, conduit and conductor required for interconnecting various signal devices and components; (4) determine power requirements for utility coordination and prepare final electrical layout of the traffic signal system; (5) prepare plans for street lighting, signing, pavement marking and electronic schematics using AutoCAD and Microstation; (6) design signal phasing, and construction sequencing plans. Optimize the phasing and flow of vehicular traffic utilizing HCS / SYNCHRO; and (7) perform traffic impact studies to analyze the impact of land development projects on area traffic patterns including review of signal warrants, trip generation, trip distribution and analysis of traffic signal and traffic volumes.

Qualification:  Bachelor's degree (or the equivalent) in Electrical / Electronics Engineering plus 1 year experience in offered or closely related position involving traffic signal design.
