Traffic Studies/Signals

In addition to our expertise in transportation planning and design, EDSI is well-respected for a full complement of traffic services. We have extensive traffic counting and data collection experience, and are pre-qualified with MoDOT and IDOT in traffic signal design and traffic operations.

City of St. Louis Traffic Counts

Location:
City of St. Louis, Missouri

EDSI was the prime consultant selected to perform machine volume traffic counts to the City of St. Louis. This project included the simultaneous count of fourteen various locations for the duration of seven days in Downtown St. Louis. Hose-type and pad-type counters were utilized. Traffic data that was collected was summarized in one-hour increments and presented numerically and graphically.

I-64 Economic and Regional Mobility Study

Location:
St. Louis, Missouri

EDSI was selected as a sub-consultant for on-going study that evaluates, measures and trends the economic and regional mobility impact caused by full lane closures that are deployed as part of the construction effort to improve the New I-64 corridor.

Tasks include quarterly roadway segment machine traffic counts, quarterly intersection turning movement traffic counts, monthly/quarterly corridor travel times, other related data collection efforts as needed, and quarterly public interviews. This study continues through 2011.

Loughborough Avenue Traffic Study

Location:
I-55 Intersection, St.Louis, Missouri

EDSI was selected as a sub-consultant to analyze the impact of an existing 30-acre multi-use commercial development, coupled with proposed roadway improvements, and a proposed recreation complex to a study area which includes five intersections in the vicinity of the interchange at I-55 and Loughborough Avenue.

EDSI's report included study area and data; three peak-hour manual turning counts at five intersections; exiting, short term, and future scenarios; trip generation and distribution; capacity analysis and simulation; sight distance analysis; and project impacts and mitigation.

Access and Circulation study for Forest Park

Location:
St. Louis, Missouri

EDSI was selected for project management of the sub-consultant portion of a study to analyze and document conditions and issues, and recommend creative and innovative solutions across all modes of circulation that require a minimum of physical changes within the Park. The intent of the project is to provide a comprehensive study that looks at all modes of transportation... mass transit, automobiles, bicycles, and pedestrians.

Primary tasks included generation of base map; field inventory; collect traffic counts; and provide input on various scenarios, evaluation of assumptions, assessment of recommendations, new alternatives, prioritization of improvements, and project documentation.
